In math, we have been focusing on the "doubles plus one" strategy.  The photos below show how we move dots around on ten frames to rewrite equations as "doubles plus one."  The extension or challenge to this is "doubles plus two."  Ask your child to teach you how they find the answers to the following questions:  2+3, 4+5, 5+6, 6+7 etc.

In addition to learning to strategies, we are also playing several new math board games.  These addition games are helping us recall our math facts more automatically.  Thanks to Mrs. Witczak for making them!

Reminders:

  • March 15, 16, 19: Inline skating
  • Please do not order Fun Lunch for March 16 (you can cancel up to 5 days ahead of time if you already ordered), as our inline skating is from 11:00-12:00 that day.
  • March 15: Leprechaun trap project (please send in recyclable materials that we can build with, such as paper towel rolls, straws, jars, plastic containers, popsicle sticks, lids etc.)
